Online slots in Canada, explained without the hype

Pick a slot the way you would pick a restaurant: know what you are walking into before you sit down. Here is what each game does, what its provider says it returns, and what it costs you per $100. We earn a commission when you sign up at partner casinos.

What you will find here

A quick note on how this site works: we earn a commission when you sign up at partner casinos, and that is what pays for the research. It does not change the figures we print, which come from provider pages.

We cover the slots Canadians actually search for: the Zeus and Princess tumble games, the candy and fruit cluster games, the fishing series, the Megaways line and a few hold-and-respin classics. Every number on a game page, RTP, grid, maximum win, comes from the provider's own page, with the check date. If we cannot find a number, we leave it out.

Why the RTP on the box is only the start

Take two slots at 96.50%. Over a million spins they cost the same. Over your evening of 300 spins, one may pay small amounts every few spins and the other may pay almost nothing for 80 spins and then deliver a large win. The first feels gentle; the second feels like a roller-coaster. RTP says what the game keeps in the long run. It says nothing about how the ride feels. That is why every page on this site pairs the RTP with a plain description of the features and a note on who the game suits.

If you want a number for your own budget, a good rule of thumb is that a $100 session at 96.50% costs about $3.50 on average, but the spread around that average is wide.

A note on Ontario and casinos

This site is written for players outside Ontario, which has its own regulated market overseen by iGaming Ontario. Ontario residents should use iGO-licensed sites. Elsewhere in Canada, the minimum age is 19 in most provinces and 18 in Alberta, Manitoba and Quebec. Our partner is RooRoll, a crypto-friendly casino with 10,000+ games from 13+ providers, including Pragmatic Play, Evolution and BGaming. We link to the specific game page when it is in their catalogue and only then.

Slot basics

What does RTP mean?

Return to player: the share of wagered money a slot is designed to pay back over a very large number of spins. 96.50% means about $96.50 per $100 on average.

Is a higher RTP always better?

It costs you less per dollar on average, but it says nothing about how big or frequent wins are. Volatility matters too.

Are demo slots the same as real-money ones?

The game engine is the same, but demo credits carry no risk and results are not predictions.

Which slots have the best RTP?

See our sourced comparison on the highest RTP page.

Do you cover Ontario?

No. Ontario residents should use iGaming Ontario-licensed sites.
